Norma had told her daughter and son-in-law that she would be home in the evening to begin the Thanksgiving preparations. When she did not show up a search began for Norma by phone as well as driving the area around Templeton and Paso Robles

Norma and her husband went to the Celis residence after Isabelle called her and told her that she had some money for Norma. Upon arriving at the Celis apartment no one answered the door when Norma knocked. Reportedly the family was home and planning on killing Norma but seeing her husband they hid. Telephone logs show that Isabelle then repeatedly called Norma. Is it suspected that she did contact Norma and asked her to return the following day.

Miguel Celis comes to Paso Robles from Kern County, reportedly at the request of his mother, Isabelle, the two planned to kill Norma sometime this week in order to not have to repay loans that she had given to them and one of Isabelle’s daughters. For the past couple years Norma had consistently brought the family gifts of food, clothing, and furniture, including her brand new mattress. The family reportedly owed Norma around $8,000.
